St. Pöltner Hütte

© AV Lang

This mountain climber's hut is located where pack animals once crossed the Tauern region to transport goods. Located at an elevation of 2,481 m on the Felbertauern pass summit, the ancient crossing between Salzburg and East Tyrol.

Since extensive expansion and renovations in 1992 and 1993, the simple, cozy hut offers 17 beds in private rooms and sleeping for 50 in group accommodations. Using alternative energy sources, the St. Pöltner Hütte is the perfect starting point for walks, mountain tours, and high alpine hut hikes with a view of the Großvenediger. Supplying the hut with food and fuel is rather difficult due to a lack of access roads. Therefore, supplies are transported either by helicopter or on the back of the hut host himself. Nonetheless, you can enjoy simple but delicious home-style cuisine.
